A Successful Aid From Abroad For COVID-19 In India

3 months ago, a few friends and I started a GoFundMe page to help prevent the cause and spread of COVID-19 in India.

With the support of people residing outside India, we were able to gather funds for different local communities, small scale organizations and local volunteers in cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore and its neighbouring towns.

But looking at India through a screen wasn't enough becuse I wasn't there. And from that angle, it's hard to justify…

We purposely chose the road not taken, as we felt we wanted to go through personal channels, local pages, common friends and family rather than putting all eggs into massive charities and organizations.

We also did this because we wanted proof of the aid going to the right people who really needed it the most, rather than not knowing how that money was used.

We contributed food, water, medical aid, medicine and supplies which were necessary for the people who couldn’t afford to have simple and basic needs.

What was the result?

We collected about $2,700CAD, roughly ₹160,000 through GoFundMe.
We fed about 1500+ meals to people, families, children across India
Provided medical equipment, basic supplies, clothes and basic amenities to parts of India through various channels to help prevent the cause and spread of COVID-19.
